We’ll have 2 Moore College PTC study groups running in Term 3. Both will study the 1st unit: ‘Intro to the Bible’.
What is PTC?
The Moore College PTC is designed to help us grow in our understanding and teaching of God’s word.
Some main themes:
Identify biblical-theological development in the context of a) books, b) sections, and c) the whole of the canon
Classify biblical data into theological categories
Relate theological concepts in biblical books to the broader biblical context
Recognize key developments in the history of Christian Theology
You can do an exam at the end of each unit (to consolidate your learning and get accreditation), or just ‘audit’ the unit for your own growth.
What’s the 1st unit like?
‘Introduction to the Bible’ shows how the great themes of the Bible fit together into one story that spans both the Old and New Testaments. Below is the contents page of the course book.
Men’s Study Group
Details of study groups are being confirmed, depending on who signs up.
One group will meet on Sundays, at the same time as the Women’s group [see below].
There may be a 2nd group meeting fortnightly for an hour mid-week.
Women’s Study Group
Leaders: Karen Street, Shaz Cutmore, Chantelle Orr, Di Warren
Time: Term 3, Sunday each fortnight, 11:15am-12:15pm in the Engadine back hall
Dates: 30/7, 13/8, 27/8, 10/9, 24/9
[Note: the 1st week 30/7 may start slightly later due to a kids & youth planning meeting. So we may have a quick lunch together!]
Commitment:
Individual Study: Read over 2 chapters each fortnight.
Group learning: We’ll share what we’ve been learning from the 2 chapters at tables, then a leader will summarise the main ideas, and then we’ll do a learning activity together.
Fees (2 options)
Option 1 is just for learning.
$20 for course book.
Option 2 is for those wanting their units to be accredited towards the PTC award (eg for training to be a chaplain).
$50 (online exam)/$65 (paper exam) + $20 for course book
For Option 2: Please enrol yourself online here [group = Engadine Anglican, group leader = James Warren] but you don’t need to order a book as the Office can do a bulk order to save postage.
Let the Office know you’re interested …
Then we’ll send you info about the study groups and order you a book.
To pay for the book, put money in the foyer box (labelled Name/PTC) or transfer to main church account.
